Army 10 Miler Training Schedule

Today starts my training program for the Army 10 Miler.  I developed my own routine based mostly on a cross between the novice and intermediate versions of Hal Higdon’s 15K program.  I’m posting it here as a way to keep myself in check and stick with it.  I may alter my speed work to do 400s instead of 800s though, We’ll see after the first set.

cool idea ... I'm going to mangle my current program to extend it 3 weeks.

I haven't calculated from your chart, but did you keep to Hal's rule of never running 10% more per week?

I didn't calculate it out, but it actually starts at a lower amount than I was running before my gout attack this month. I aimed to be conservative with my increases but still challenging enough to push me.

The drop to less work at the start of a training routine is a great way to wake up new parts of your body to rise to the challenge!

There is nothing wrong with mixing up the 800s with 400s - either every other week or even within the same workout!
