Winter Update

Wow, it's been nearly two months since my last post.  I've so neglected my humble blog. There probably isn't anyone sticking around to read this!  I'm going to do a brief rundown of the last two months.

Disney World Marathon - I totally forgot to complete the second part of my race report.  I'll get to that in the next couple of days.

Physical Therapy and the Knee - I'm done with PT, I've not had a single instance of ITB problems since before Disney.  The other side of the knee is doing well too.  I don't consider myself in the clear, but I'm having no problems at the moment.

Seneca Greenway 50K - I planned to run this a few weeks ago, but travel delays, and a lack of sleep pushed me to not run it.  I would have started it on about 3 hours of sleep, it was frigid, and muddy.  Not worth it.

Running in general - This winter has been a lackluster period of running for me.  most of my running has been on the treadmill at work, with little outside running.  Sickness and work trips have kept my running to a bare minimum as well. Springtime is here, and I'm starting to get outdoors.

Blue Ridge Marathon - I'm still set for this one, slightly over a month out.  I'm vamping up my runs and hill work now to prep myself.  It's going to be a tough one, but I'm excited.  On a related note, Paige has decided to do the kids marathon series.  She has to run 25 miles before race day, then 1.2 on race day to complete her marathon.  She's currently got six miles under her belt, with probably two more this evening with her cousin.

24 Hour Adventure Trail Run - I signed up for this 24 hour trail run.  The race consists of as many 6.25 mile trail loops as I can run in 24 hours.  It's two weeks after Blue Ridge, and going to kick my ass, I'm sure.  I'm anxious to see how I fare once the sun goes down and I hit sleep mode. Thankfully, it looks like I'll have a couple of pacers to help me out.

New York City - Last week I had a great nearly 13 mile run through the heart of New York City.  Starting in Midtown, I traveled up through Time Square, did a lap through Central Park, and returned down 6th Ave.  This was only my third trip to NYC, and seeing the sites while on a run was awesome.  It wasn't nearly as hard running the sidewalks as I anticipated.  I guess mid-afternoon on a Monday is the way to go.

That's about it for now, a quick update of the winter and upcoming events.  I promise, I'll get Part II of the Disney report out soon!
